Minister says Russian delegation to Davos chaired by econ min

MOSCOW, Jan 11 (PRIME) -- The Russian delegation on the World Economic Forum in Davos will be chaired by Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Friday.

“It is headed by Maxim Oreshkin,” Novak said.

The forum will be held on January 22–25. Spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Putin had not decided whether to attend the event.

In November 2018, the Financial Times reported that Russian tycoons Oleg Deripaska and Viktor Vekselberg as well as VTB Bank’s CEO Andrei Kostin were barred from participating in the forum. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said then that Russia would not go to the forum if the restrictions are not lifted. The ban was lifted in late December, and Putin received an invitation to participate in the forum, Peskov said earlier.
